|What can you find in the IRIS Union Catalog?|
In the IRIS Union Catalog (called IRS01), composed of over 330,000 titles one can find monographs, journals, rare and early printed books,
accademic dissertations, auction catalogs, music scores, offprints, collection-level guide records to photographic archives,
non-print media (microfiche, microfilms, CD-ROMs, videos, sound recordings), a significant number of in-analytics
(records for individual articles from a number of specialized journals and conference proceedings), and electronic resources
(web-sites accessible via an external link).
This list, while representing the complete patrimony of each of the partnering libraries, is constantly being updated with new titles.
In addition to searching the entire catalog one can focus the search by selecting a specific IRIS library. On this page, by means of a pull-down menu ("Base to search"), it is possible to limit the search to the library pre-selected.
Each library is identified by a 3-letter code which serves to specify which library (or libraries) own the requested title.
Additionally it is possible to locate material held by the the library of the Fondazione Casa Buonarroti (FCB) which, as part of a specially funded project, is in the process of integrating its holdings into the Union Catalog. Titles held by the Università internazionale dell'Arte (UIA), IRIS partner library (2003-2009) and the Bill Kent Library (BKL) IRIS partner library (2011-2013) can also be found.
In January, 2013 the art auction catalogs file was loaded into the bibliographic union catalog. The original group (ca. 24,000 catalogs) is constantly being updated. In addition to the normal searches (author, title, etc.) they may be located by Seller/Subject (Provenance), Date of Sale (yyyymmdd), and Place of Sale. »
